Your Metabolism - Increase it and Lose Weight
Today, due to food processing and especially that done to our edible
oils, our Thyroid gland becomes malnutritious and slows down. As it
slows down, so does your metabolism.
See these symptoms below, and check if any or all of them fit to
your situation.
Cold hands and feet, low body temperature, sensitivity to cold, a
feeling of always being chilled, headaches, insomnia, dry skin, puffy
eyes, hair loss, brittle nails, joint aches, constipation, mental
dullness, fatigue, frequent infections, hoarse voice, ringing in the
ears, dizziness, loss of libido, and weight gain, which is sometimes
uncontrollable.
If these symptoms fit your situation, you might be suffering from
hypothyroidism, or a low functioning of the thyroid gland. A sluggish
thyroid means a sluggish metabolism, and that means weight gain no
matter what diet you are on.
What can we do?
You may be consuming the wrong oils. Your polyunsaturated oils (soy,
corn, . safflower) are now fed to pigs and livestock, as it causes
them to gain weight. Corn and soy (and their oils) are now recognized
at anti-thyroxin agents. These oils have Linoleic and linolenic acids,
long-chain fatty acids, which have an anti-thyroid effect.
What can be done then?
There is a good natural way to stimulate the thyroid gland, and return
to your natural and healthy weight. First of all, you must eat sensibly
and try at all costs to eliminate the "white toxins" from
your diet. These are, refined white sugar, refined white flour and
chemically processed (including commercially fried) potato in any
form. These also have a detrimental effect on your whole body, not
just the thyroid gland.
Next you must change your oil consumption from the polyunsaturated
varieties (once considered beneficial for your heart and circulatory
systems, but now they are under study research to be culprits for
a whole range of human maladies). You may be surprised to learn that
the polyunsaturated oils are now fed to livestock, as they are natural
anti-thyroxin agents and cause the animals to gain weight quickly!
Eat only VIRGIN or EXTRA-VIRGIN (meaning unprocessed and unadulterated
in any way) olive oil, peanut oil, and if you can locate, coconut
oil.
Eat these oils in small and logical quantities. If you must eat mayonnaise
and other oily sauces, use these oils and make them yourself. With
the new food processors, you can make a very delicious mayonnaise
in 1 one minute using an egg, a bit of salt, a dash of lemon juice
and extra-virgin olive oil. Good for your heart and thyroid.
Your thyroid will turn back on, but you need to assist it to lose
weight. This means a daily exercise program, a logical diet and banishing
from your diet all culprit oils and products. Read food labels more
carefully.
Do not be afraid of saturated fats. As long as there are no TRANS
FATS included, saturated fats can be very good for you, and helpful
for your thyroid. An example of this is peanuts or peanut butter (without
any trans fats added).
To achieve a maximum effect from a rejuvenated thyroid gland, follow
first of all a quick detox diet This is always beneficial. Next replace
your edible fats as advised above, and third, follow a maintenance
diet and exercise light program and you will see positive results
from the first few days.
