Brazilian WaxHair RemovalHair removal is in fashion today, but in truth, there is much evidence of fashionable hair removal in ancient Greece, Egypt, and India. Brazilian bikini waxes have been a major fashion trend since the late 90's, but they're not new as we have seen above. Brazilian waxing was introduced to New York in 1987 by a group of Brazilian sisters where the waxing treatment takes its name from. Today it is used as a fashion and statement by not just celebrities but women all over the world It allows swimwear and lingerie to be worn without any hair showing no matter how skimpy! It also gives a clean feeling and last but not least many women and men see it as very sensuous. So let's look at the Brazilian wax in more detail and compare it first to the more common bikini wax. Bikini Wax v Brazilian Wax Bikini waxing, removes only the hair that is visible around the bikini area. Basically the difference is with the Brazilian wax, hair is removed in the front, back & everything in between. In the majority of cases a 'landing strip' remains at the front, but many people go for everything removed from the area. How is a Brazilian Wax Done Most waxings occur in private either a room or curtained off cubicle and normally takes around 15 - 30 minutes. You then have to remove your clothes and lie on a table or bench, with paper or sheets. As you only need approximately a quarter-inch of hair for the wax to do its work, your therapist will begin trimming your pubic hair to this length Experienced waxers are fast and professional, which means very little discomfort. The waxer will dip a waxing stick into a pot of hot wax & then place it on the skin and hair in the region to be waxed. The next step is to apply a cloth strip over the warm wax which she has just applied, pressing down firmly so the cloth, hair and wax stick to each other. When the wax has cooled, the strip will then be pulled off, which removes the hairs and takes out the roots at the same time the hairs out by the root. Then any stray hairs will be removed with tweezers. Waxing usually commences at the front and moves toward the back. You will be instructed to move in to a number of positions so that this can be achieved by your therapist Once the waxing is completed, the waxer will use soothing lotion over the areas where the hair has just been removed. You may have some bumps, soreness or maybe ingrown hairs. Your waxer may suggest further creams lotions etc if necessary. Is a Brazilian Wax worth it? The majority of people who have a Brazilian wax done definitely think so, but there are a few points you need to be aware of: Brazilian waxing like any waxing treatment, can be very painful at first, but frequent visits will reduce the amount of pain you feel and even on the first visit the pain is not as bad as most people expect One thing you have to keep in mind with a Brazilian wax. While it lasts up to 3 weeks, the hair will grow back and you will then need another waxing treatment, so it's a regular treatment like having your nails done. Is it Worth it? For most people Brazilian waxing provides a long lasting clean, sensual, and allows a smooth look in the area when wearing swimwear and lingerie The feeling of discomfort for most women is definitely worth 15 - 30 minutes of their time to get a Brazilian wax that can be enjoyed by both you and your partner. Nervous? Then go for Bikini Wax First If you are nervous of a full Brazilian start with a regular bikini wax first, before moving onto the full Brazilian wax. Hair Removal Health and Beauty |
